The Hochschulrainiger celebrates its online premiere

Der Hochschulrainiger - the first true sustainability soap opera from the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) launches its online premiere today. A total of three episodes of a humorous mini web series were produced in summer 2020 in the project funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg (MWFK) with the participation of numerous local actors and supporters. The aim of this unique film project is to strengthen the transfer of university-relevant teaching and research topics into society through innovative communication measures.

The Hochschulrainiger takes the title of the soap opera literally and, together with the protagonist of the same name, not only sweeps through some of HNEE's unusual teaching and meeting rooms, but also overcomes many reservations. "We couldn't have made a better choice with Thomas Giegerich (alias Rainer Scheurich or better known as Der Hochschulrainiger)," confirms Melanie Adam, who is responsible for the HNEE storytelling project and the idea behind it. "Even though I would of course have loved to have realised a premiere in person together with all our companions and supporters, it is now time to present our little "university pearl" to shine far beyond HNEE," says the project manager.

After several attempts to realise a festive and public premiere with a film talk and scientific panel discussion in presence, the premiere will now take place exclusively online due to the current restrictions of the corona pandemic. All three episodes will be available on the university's YouTube channel with a time delay on the following dates.

4 June 2021 - Episode 1: Hochschulrainiger - fire protection vs. burn-out

11 June 2021 - Episode 2: Hochschulrainiger - digital spritz cakes

18 June 2021 - Episode 3: Hochschulrainiger - Nice shit

In an internal university online premiere event, Melanie Adam sums up: "I learned an incredible amount from this project, especially how complex and multi-layered the realisation of even supposedly small film projects is. I was overwhelmed by the willingness of so many local actors and actresses to support the project, whether by providing important props or other invaluable services. They played a big part in making it possible for the project to be realised in the way it was."
