After a welcome and introduction of the HNEE by the President Prof Dr Matthias Barth, Dr Bernhard Götz, Scientific Director of the Forest Botanical Garden, gave a guided tour of the garden. The use of pine trees in the context of a sustainable timber industry in the region was discussed. In a subsequent presentation of the ADAPT-Wald-Holz project, project manager Prof Dr Tobias Cremer went into more detail about the research project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research: "In the ADAPT-Wald-Holz project, we are investigating the entire supply chain of pine trees in cultivation in a real laboratory. New mechanical properties of pines are being investigated there - right through to standardisation in order to further promote pines in timber construction." At the end of the tour, Chancellor Scholz planted a pine tree.
