Research

At HNEE, we orientate our research towards current issues in the context of sustainable development. These are specified by the 17 global goals for sustainable development of the 2030 Agenda and their concretisation in the German Sustainable Development Strategy. In an application-orientation that is fundamental for universities of applied sciences, we work on theory-induced, problem-solving, disciplinary as well as inter- and transdisciplinary research questions. This strengthens our role as a pioneer for sustainability transformation.

Our research strength results from the interlinking of different scientists within the university with expertise from the field. This transdisciplinary approach results in innovative solutions that meet the complex challenges of our time.

Application-oriented research for sustainable development

We are strong in application-oriented inter- and transdisciplinary research with politics, society, science and business. There is a close exchange with practice partners in order to enable stakeholder-orientated, context- and problem-specific research with a close spatial focus. Research support measures aim to position application-oriented research at HNEE even more visibly as a central contribution to sustainability science.
