Science Minister Dr Manja Schüle visits the Präsenzstellen-Meeting in Luckenwalde

On 12 August, Brandenburg's Minister of Science, Dr Manja Schüle, visited the Präsenzstellen of the universities in the state of Brandenburg at a coordination meeting in Luckenwalde. At the meeting, the Präsenzstellen had the opportunity to present themselves to the Minister and also to introduce the new joint website. The Präsenzstellen are the central points of contact in the regions remote from universities for all questions relating to the services offered by Brandenburg's universities and non-university research institutions. In the north-east, the Schwedt | Uckermark office represents Brandenburg's scientific institutions, which is organisationally affiliated to the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE).

Science Minister Dr Manja Schüle: "East German science and business is a laboratory of change. Our task is to realise this laboratory not only in the big cities, but to anchor it in the diversity of the regions. The Präsenzstellen of the universities therefore act as regional contact and coordination points for prospective students and local companies. The team at the Präsenzstellen seamlessly brings together the various offers. They coordinate, network and mediate the various paths to science - and thus represent the successful linking of Brandenburg's attendance centres in the areas of business, science, politics and society. Once again, we are demonstrating that eastern Germany stands for a willingness to change and develop - and the future is being made in Brandenburg."

Following the minister's statement, the new website of the Präsenzstellen was presented. It contains information on offers and dates relating to science, research and studying in Brandenburg. Each of the seven Präsenzstellen then reported on themselves and their current topics, projects and events. For example, a science slam with members and affiliates of Brandenburg's universities is being planned as the next joint project for 2022. Minister Schüle then went on a tour of the Präsenzstelle Luckenwalde, which includes a makerspace, a showroom as a presentation area for science and research projects and a co-working space in addition to the services offered by a Präsenzstelle.

The tasks of the Präsenzstellen are wide-ranging: both pupils and (working) prospective students can find out all about studying at talks and information evenings. Students and graduates receive support in finding placements in companies in the region, e.g. for internships, final theses and career entry. There are interactive science communication event formats for citizens. The Präsenzstellen also build bridges between regional companies and research institutions in Brandenburg with regard to knowledge, technology and personnel transfer. They are funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg. The Präsenzstelle in Schwedt/Oder, which is organisationally assigned to the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development, is the point of contact for questions relating to science and research in the Uckermark. There are also offices in the Prignitz region in Neuruppin, Pritzwalk and Wittenberge as well as in Velten, Fürstenwalde, Spremberg, Finsterwalde and Luckenwalde.
