HNEE welcomes two new professors: Prof. Dr Christian Klingenfuß and Prof. Dr Christoph Wenderdel
On 1 March 2024, two new professors accepted their appointment and took up their posts at the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE).
Prof Dr Christian Klingenfuß is Professor of Vegetation Science and Applied Plant Ecology at the Department of Landscape Use and Nature Conservation. Born in Berlin, he initially studied biology and geography at the Humboldt University of Berlin and graduated with the First State Examination. After briefly teaching at a grammar school, he returned to university. He completed a Master's degree in "Plant Sciences" and then did his doctorate on a peatland-related topic. Before coming to HNEE, he led two research projects and gained a wide range of administrative experience. Mr Klingenfuß will teach on the Bachelor's degree programme "Landscape Use and Nature Conservation" and the Master's degree programme "Sustainable Regional Development", in particular on the subject of peatland protection and management. Christian Klingenfuß is looking forward to his new role at HNEE and to working with the students: "The opportunity to become active in the field of landscape-ecological peatland science in teaching and research is a great pleasure for me and I know that I have a great responsibility in this regard, at least for north-east Germany."
Prof Dr Christoph Wenderdel was born in Münsterland and is Professor of "Process and Production Engineering in Wood Engineering" at the Department of Wood Engineering. His teaching duties include the core subjects of "Process Engineering", "Production Engineering" and "Wood-based Material Technology" - including "Basic Processes of Woodworking and Processing" and "Scientific Work". After graduating with a degree in wood technology (FH) from the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences in 2007, Mr Wenderdel then decided to study for a master's degree in wood technology and wood industry at the TU Dresden. From 2012 to 2016, Christoph Wenderdel worked as an external doctoral student at ETH Zurich as part of his dissertation on "Production of binder-free medium-density fibreboards with cardboard-like properties". Since 2020, Prof Dr Wenderdel has been a process engineer for mechanical process engineering and deputy production manager of the particleboard plant at Sonae Arauco Beeskow GmbH. Mr Wenderdel is looking forward to incorporating his diverse experience from industry into teaching and research.
