HNEE is among the top 3 of the 16th German Sustainability Award

Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) is among the top 3 in the 16th German Sustainability Award (Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis, DNP) and is in the final as a model institution in the schools and universities sector. An expert jury of 140 judges has selected the top field of transformation pioneers from 100 sectors. The winners will receive their awards in Düsseldorf on 23 November.

HNEE was selected as one of three pioneers of transformation in the "Education and Research" sector alongside TU Munich and Leuphana University of Lüneburg and is therefore in the final.

With its selection, the jury recognised HNEE's exemplary role as a pioneer of sustainability transformation, in which sustainability is convincingly lived, taught and researched as a cross-cutting issue.

Prof Dr Matthias Barth, President of HNEE: "Making it to the final is a special recognition for us and our companions and, above all, our students, who often provide important impulses. The commitment of many participants in this transformation process must be further inspired and more opportunities created to bring together and support creative and committed actors from the university with partners from business and civil society."

This year, the prestigious award will be presented by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Federal Ministry for the Environment and other partners to the pioneers of sustainability. The winners are expected to be announced on 31 October 2023.
