Eco-Good Award once again calls on students to take part
For the fifth time, the Faculty of Sustainable Business at Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) is calling for entries for the Eco-Good Award. Students can apply for the award with projects that provide impetus for social, corporate or political change on the topic of environmental awareness.
The award has been presented to students every year since 2018. It is open to ongoing project ideas that have been developed as part of the degree programme at the Faculty of Sustainable Business. The range of possible topics extends from transport and procurement guidelines to food consumption. This year, for example, a project dealing with sustainable procurement won. "The group developed a form that takes greater account not only of ecological aspects but also social justice in future procurement procedures," reports Dirk Range, HNEE employee in the area of procurement/third-party funding. In the previous year, the award went to a team that developed a strategy for environmentally friendly fleet management for a medium-sized, regional company.
In short, projects are eligible if they deal with the responsible use of energy and materials, water, waste, biodiversity and emissions. They must also have a clear relevance to the everyday lives of private individuals or organisations.
The award is organised by the Centre for Sustainable and Innovative Concepts for the Promotion of Good Living (ZENIKPLUS). It is endowed with 350 euros and is awarded annually in the summer semester at HNEE. The jury is made up of HNEE lecturers Prof Dr Thoralf Buller as initiator, Prof Dr Alexander Conrad and Prof Dr Armin Thoma. In addition, guest jurors from science and/or practice are invited each year to provide support. This year, the award was presented by Benjamin Raschke, leader of the Bündnis90/Die Grünen parliamentary group in the Brandenburg state parliament.
