First digital graduation ceremony at HNEE

The Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) will bid farewell to its 2020 graduates this evening at 6 p.m. in the first digital graduation ceremony.

The past few semesters have been a special situation for everyone. The current President, Prof Dr Heike Walk, will congratulate the graduates on their outstanding achievements in these difficult times in a video message. Normally, the newly graduated alumni celebrate their Bachelor's or Master's degree together with parents and friends at Haus Schwärzetal. This has been a tradition since 2013.
The graduates are offered a colourful programme on a 360° website - with many contributions, hands-on activities and exchange formats. Josefine Brodhagen, who is responsible for organising the graduation ceremony at HNEE alongside the Career Service, is very excited about the response this evening.

The number of graduates broke the seven-thousand mark in 2020. At the end of February 2021, HNEE had 7,383 alumni. The majority of alumni from 2020 graduated from the Faculty of Landscape Management and Nature Conservation (175) and Sustainable Business (175), followed by the Faculty of Forest and Environment (135) and the Faculty of Wood Engineering (55). The highest number of graduates was recorded in the Forestry (62), Business Management (58) and Organic Farming and Marketing (48) degree programmes. It should be noted that the Bachelor's degree course in Business Management at the Faculty of Sustainable Business has been further developed and modernised. Prospective students can now apply for the Bachelor's degree programme in Sustainable Economics and Management programme.

A new phase of life now awaits the graduates - be it the start of their professional life or the continuation of their studies in the Master's programme. They are well prepared for the demands that will be placed on them in the future thanks to their time at HNEE. Laura Göpfert, a graduate of the Master's programme in Regional Development and Nature Conservation at the Faculty of Landscape Management and Nature Conservation, agrees: "My time studying in Eberswalde has given me two things above all: an absolute broadening of my horizons and also a very practical education. I feel very well prepared for working life. Eberswalde is a lovely town with numerous opportunities to get involved. I took advantage of this and got involved in the GeLa* university group. My time at HNEE really enriched my life and I will always have vivid memories of it," summarises the graduate.
