This year, 167 students applied for the Deutschlandstipendium. University President Prof. Dr Matthias Barth presented the scholarship certificates to the 48 selected scholarship holders and emphasised in his welcoming speech how important the Deutschlandstipendium is as an instrument to support committed students who are not only involved in social but also in a (university) political context. Following the official part of the event, both the scholarship holders and the sponsors present had the opportunity to exchange ideas in an initial discussion.
The programme supports high-achieving and socially committed students of all nationalities from Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes, regardless of their income, and is not counted towards educational support (BAföG). Each scholarship is jointly financed by private sponsors and the state and amounts to 300 euros per month. In addition to financial support, the Deutschlandstipendium also provides an opportunity for exchange between scholarship holders and sponsors. HNEE has been involved in the national funding programme since it began in 2011. In the 2024 funding period, 20 scholarship holders from the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, 16 from the Faculty of Landscape Management and Nature Conservation, 3 from the Faculty of Wood Engineering and 9 from the Faculty of Sustainable Business. The 48 scholarship holders include eight international students from Colombia, Belgium, the UK, the Netherlands, Iran, Kosovo, Egypt and China.
On behalf of the scholarship holders, the university management would like to express its sincere thanks for their commitment and the financial support provided.
