Children's University 2022 at the HNEE

For grades 5 and 6, there will be a morning lecture on the adaptable raccoons and their distribution as well as a webinar on the world of biosphere reserves. Afterwards, the slightly older pupils can learn interesting facts about moors in an afternoon programme. A subsequent webinar will take a closer look at the topic of forests and their future in the climate crisis.

The Children's University was launched back in 2008 as a cooperation project between HNEE and the Barnim Uckermark Community Foundation. The Youth University followed in 2012. Since then, there have been new exciting topics to discover every year as part of this lecture and workshop series. Despite the current tense pandemic situation, the children's university is planned as an in-person event with a corresponding hygiene concept. Should the general conditions for holding such events tighten by the beginning of March, the children's university will not take place as an online event.

With growing popularity, more and more schools and thus children and young people have taken part in this event format in recent years - most recently around 1,000 pupils at the Children's University and more than 300 pupils at the Youth University.
