20 years of organic farming degree programmes!

For 20 years, pioneers of change in the field of organic farming have been trained at the faculty of  Landscape Management and Nature Conservation. We celebrated this together with the graduates, practice partners and companions on 4 and 5 October 2024, with around 120 participants at the University for Sustainable Development. It was a successful event with lots of dialogue, memories and new ideas.

A particular highlight of the celebrations was the speech by Renate Künast, who had already accompanied the founding of the organisation 20 years ago. She emphasised the importance of organic farming and the training of young professionals with regard to food security. She also emphasised how important it is for the agricultural sector to make a key contribution to sustainable development.

The special character of the organic agriculture degree programmes at HNEE, with their unique combination of theory and practice and ecological and economic thinking, sets them apart from other (organic) agriculture degree programmes. This optimally prepares graduates for the challenges of the future.

The practice lounge was very popular throughout the event, where intensive discussions were held and networks were cultivated. During the rally through Eberswalde, the alumni showed an impressively strong team spirit as they brought themselves up to date and explored their old place of study in a fun way.

The field trips during the degree programme were particularly memorable for the graduates, as the insights and the opportunity to learn from the experiences of successful business managers are formative. During the anniversary, a field trip was organised to two newly founded companies run by former students. They showed how the practice-orientated training made it easier for them to become self-employed.
